My advise is to find a doctor or endocrinologist and take some natural thyroid for your health.Shirley Donaldshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17248373074164868047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788656794561063724.post-70620137267615744892009-06-05T10:43:46.255-07:002009-06-05T10:43:46.255-07:00When I was diagnosed very late in the condition (t...When I was diagnosed very late in the condition (the Mxxedma stage) the first thing my doctor did was send me to see a specialist. For that I will be eternally grateful because his recommendations have probably saved my life. I highly recommend you ask your doctor to send you to an endocrinologist, particularly if you aren't feeling any improvement since starting treatments. I also highly recommend regular visits to Mary Shoman's website. The is the ultimate authority on thyroid disease and the top advocate for all of us who suffer from it. Mary is one of us and she has made it her business to research all aspects of thyroid disease. If anyone has been on Synthroid or any other medication for a year and isn't feeling remarkable improvement either get a new doctor or insist on more elaborate testing. My thyroid was the victim of radiation treatments to one of my eyes when I was a child but it took years and years before it finally quit working - it wasn't until my visit to the specialist that I realized any health issues I had experienced over my adult years were all related to my thyroid stopping or sputtering! Freezing cold, hair loss, deep and raspy voice (at least an octave lower than normal), swelling and water retention, aches and pains all over, lethargy and complete halt to menstration are just to name a few that plagued me for well over 25 years off and on before my thyroid quit completely. Within a year of commencing treatment I finally had my life back for the first time in years. The only residual that I was challenged with was to lose a good 60 pounds that had piled on in the 15 months prior to my diagnosis. No family history of thyroid disease either. See your doctor and insist on help.Colleenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09948145327918243673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788656794561063724.post-12131583500792511262009-05-01T22:39:00.000-07:002009-05-01T22:39:00.000-07:00I went to a specialist for hypothyroidism and it a...I went to a specialist for hypothyroidism and it almost felt like she was laughing at me.
All she did was increase my Synthyroid! I still have trouble to fall asleep and when i do i can sleep for 12 to 16 hours if no one wakes me.
My last TSH test was at 17,so i am still no further ahead then when i started!
I do not trust what is online for this! But i have found that by not eating certain foods that i do feel better and if i eat them i feel worse!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13365807798041327207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788656794561063724.post-45425867524413459432009-03-09T05:59:00.000-07:002009-03-09T05:59:00.000-07:00It sounds like 150ug dose is still too low. Your doctor should recommend increasing the dose, but do it slowly and have regular blood counts done for TSH and T4.

I have also read about homeopathic remedies but would be dubious to try them. The effects of hypothyroidism are too severe for me to trust trying something else. Also I would be wary of finding a "cure" on the internet with unsubstantiated recommendations from people you don't know. I write web sites and recommendations are easy to fake. Knowing how awful I felt before diagnosis I would not risk my health trying an alternative, but that's my choice.

BTW if you get a TSH count done I would be interested in hearing what your results are. This gives a good indication as to whether the replacement therapy is working. For the record my initial count, on diagnosis, was 156. I currently I run at a count of about 5. Apparently "normal" TSH levels are between 0 and 2.

I've been living with this condition for 6 years now and am unusual in so much as I am male, and in my 30's.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3788656794561063724.post-9654883431358605922009-02-02T18:30:00.000-08:002009-02-02T18:30:00.000-08:00I also have this and am very tired of trying thing...I also have this and am very tired of trying things that do not work!
If you find something that does please let me know here!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
